The belt of my Toyota Camry is broken when the car has been stopped. Would that damage the valves?
Answer:
The Toyota Camry had no engine to stop interference until 2002. At that time, the Toyota Camry engine had a distribution chain.
The standard engine used in the Toyota Camry is the 2.2L I4 (in line with 4 cylinders) and the 3.0L V6.
Both engines are not reference adjustment motors. Although it is still possible to cause damage if the cam / timing belt is not replaced and broken, it is very likely that the valves will not be damaged.
I strongly recommend replacing the timing belt as it will not be damaged on a Toyota for most of the time. (Most Toyota cars sold in the United States were / are engines without interference)
